Foreverfamily

Nearly six million kids in America have experienced losing a parent to prison or jail at some point in their lives. Foreverfamily works to ensure that, no matter what the circumstances, all children have the opportunity to be surrounded by the love of family.

Our organization focuses on providing services to children with incarcerated parents and their families. After 37 years, we are more committed than ever to our mission. We are continuously strengthening our relationships in the community to serve our children and families in new, innovative ways.

The 5K4Kids is our board’s annual fundraiser – and the best way to support Foreverfamily’s mission. We hope you’ll join us anytime during the month of September, wherever you are, to walk or run 3.1 miles for children of the incarcerated. Together, we can make a big difference, one step at a time.

WELCOMING NEW CEO!

It is with great joy that I not only announce that after 37 years, I am stepping down as the CEO of Foreverfamily but that the new CEO, Camilla Paul, who takes the helm on February 15, 2024, has been involved with the agency for over 15 years as a contractor, volunteer, and donor. My joy comes from reflecting on almost four decades of solid work in the community serving justice-impacted children and families. Through the support of donors, volunteers, and staff, Foreverfamily has been a trailblazer in the field, pioneering child-centered visits inside women’s prisons and men’s and women’s transitional centers in Georgia. While leaving Foreverfamily, I will remain active in the nonprofit world through my consulting business, Sandra Barnhill & Associates.

Join me in welcoming Camilla Paul as our new chief executive! To learn more about her here.

Surrounding children with the love of family

At Foreverfamily, we focus our efforts on children with an incarcerated parent in the state of Georgia and support them as they, their parents, caregivers, and extended families work to remain a family.

Nearly six million kids in America have experienced losing a parent to prison or jail at some point in their lives.

For 35 years, we have been providing services and transportation for more than
45,000 children to prisons across Georgia for monthly in-person visits with their parents.

Our programs empower those directly affected by incarceration to build their skills and ability to change the trajectory of their own lives.

Despite these staggering numbers and the undeniable effects of parental incarceration on communities, those most affected—the children—have remained largely invisible and voiceless.

Family Visitation Program

The Family Visitation Program (FVP) is Foreverfamily’s signature support service.

Despite these staggering numbers and the undeniable effects of parental incarceration on communities, those most affected—the children—have remained largely invisible and voiceless.

We take children to visit their mothers nine months out of the year.

We also provide travel vouchers to children with incarcerated fathers twice a year.

Foreverfamily is special because it inspires hope with its emphasis on serving the whole family and … providing comprehensive services for families affected by parental incarceration.

Marketa Harris, Foreverfamily staff

Our intergenerational programming builds upon the foundation laid by our Family Visitation Program, fostering connections between children and their families.

If you or someone you love is incarcerated, we offer comprehensive support services: out of school enrichment programs, teen leadership, family visits and more.

We offer additional support programs, resources and opportunities to our children and families to complement and enhance the outcomes of the visitation program.

We create a supportive environment where families work and grow together, strengthening their bonds and nurturing positive relationships.

This holistic approach aids in improving the likelihood that children will become successful adults and supports the well-being and growth of the entire family.
